This week mainstream received a very transparent single for Kodak Black, two new albums from southern rapper, Gucci Mane and East Coast Legend, Ice Cube along with a number of visuals, most notably Sean Paul’s Naked Truth featuring Jhené Aiko, and Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” which caused a massive upheaval with its “Mean Girls” movie concept.

Gucci's Evil Genius is predictable, but that doesn't make it bad. It is expectedly centered around money and sex, which makes it great trap. The album is a great listen if you need to get a into a money mindset or if you just to need feel yourself (trap keeps my ego healthy). My favorite tracks on Evil Genius are "Cold Shoulder", "Father's Day", "Lost Ya Mind", and of course "Wake Up in the Sky".

Ice Cube's Everythangs Corrupt is a rendition of its title. Cube uses this unexpected album as a release and personal response to everything he's taken taken in during his hiatus, slandering the social and political system, and speaking up against the increase in drug abuse, as well as the decline in morality. He also flexes his inner-G sporadically; however, Cube's perspectives and delivery come as no surprise considering his music catalog. What I enjoyed most about Everythangs Corrupt is the sonic variety, more specifically the incorporation of funk, so assumably my favorite tracks are "Can You Dig It?" and "That New Funkadelic".
